PADDLES for PADS…A welcome back charity event
We are planning our first charity event as part of a Welcome Back Day of activity. You have likely received information about PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs Society) through Pickleball BC newsletters. To recap, What is PADS: pads.ca
“We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility and PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities…”
Knowing that so many of our members enjoy the companionship of their pet dogs, we felt it was a cause that our club would support. This is a province-wide event involving many BC clubs and is supported through Pickleball BC.
“Our objective is a lot of people playing pickleball on April 20 – enjoying themselves in a light competitive mode, socializing with others they may not have seen for a while and gaining a higher level of respect for various service dogs, in particular those provided through the PADS organization.”
We are setting up 3 events for Saturday, April 20
- 10:00-12 noon: Round Robin open
- 12:00-2:00 p.m. Round Robin Two
- 2:00-4:00 p.m. Mixed Doubles Round Robin
When signing up, there will be a $5 registration fee and DONATE buttons. As PADS is a registered society, your donation amounts will net you a CRA Tax receipt. You are encouraged to donate even if you are unable to attend! We hope for good weather, but if needed, we have access to the indoor courts in the Kerry Park curling area but only from 12 noon onward.
